Wine of the Month: December
December’s Wine of the month: 2016 Chardonnay “Land of the Vines” Adelaide Hills
Chardonnay has made a massive resurgence recently and we have found your perfect summer drop, sourced directly from the winemaker for you to enjoy with your Italian cuisine at Bella Venezia.
With 85 cases made in total, 2016 Chardonnay “Land of the Vines” is sourced from Kuipto, a subregion of the Adelaide Hills. Cropped at 2 ½ tonne to the acre, it spent 11 months in the barrel, consisting of 1/3 new French oak, 1/3 seasoned French oak and 1/3 seasoned American oak.
It is pale yellow in colour, and the wine displays intense aromas of peach, melon and spice guava on the nose straight off the bat.
Blind tasting would expect something powerful to follow and this wine doesn’t disappoint.
Initial aromas of mango and then nectarine on the mid palate with a medium to long creamy finish to balance the wine.
Representing great value, this particular wine goes well with fresh oysters, scallops, fish and most seafood. Enjoy on a summer’s day overlooking the water! Available by the glass and the bottle at Bella Venezia.
