The Gourmet Edit: The Velo Project

David and Sarah Nash had always planned on running their own business and when they saw The Velo Project for sale in May 2014, they jumped at the opportunity and haven’t looked back since. Boasting a quirky decor and serving up bountiful plates of delicious food, the Mooloolaba eatery has become a fast favourite among locals.

Here are five things you didn’t know about David and Sarah Nash, the owners of The Velo Project.

Their favourite dishes are…

Sarah: Our smashed avocado is my favourite, the combination of herbs and corn really work well with the avocado (I could have it for lunch every day!)
Dave: Truffled mushroom and prosciutto crepe, all the flavours work really well together and it is a perfect sized portion.

You won’t believe their strangest customer request

We cater to plenty of dietary requirements and needs fairly regularly, however would have to say a rather weird request was an allergy to any herbs starting with the letter C!

They’re having a baby!

Sarah is due on the 21st of May with our first child, we are extremely excited and are looking forward to the challenges that come with parenting, alongside running the cafe.

Even their customers are weighing in…

We have had a mixed bag of guesses on the sex of the baby – however I do have to say the guesses towards the place where I go into labour have been rather amusing! (On a paddle board!)

More exciting opportunities on the horizon

We would love to open another small business looking forward (hopefully early 2017). We are also looking at possibly opening for a few dinner services, if we do it would be casual and a bit of fun for everyone.
