The Soul Movers are a Sydney-based soul, rock, pop and folk band - and they'll be taking to the stage in The Bunker at The Imperial Hotel Eumundi on Friday 2 March.
Reported in the media as ‘a super-group of sorts’, around the release of their new album Testify! (ABC Music/ Universal), they feature two ARIA Hall of Fame inductees: guitarist Murray Cook (The Wiggles) and keyboardist Pip Hoyle (Radio Birdman) fronted by wild woman vocalist (Lizzie Mack). Well-seasoned bass player Andy Newman (The Visitors) and Darren Ryan (Deb Conway, The Church) on drums provide a powerhouse rhythm section.
The band’s sound encapsulates the essence of retro soul, filtered through a contemporary lens of rockin’ blues and groovy pop. The Soul Movers have been selling out fabulous venues in Sydney and Melbourne due to their broad appeal and soul-moving original sound.
Lizzie’s voice has been compared to artists such as Dusty Springfield, Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse and if you are a fan of Nikki Hill, The Detroit Cobras, The Rolling Stones or Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, then The Soul Movers have a show for you!
